For the second year in a row, the Santa Barbara Bowl is achieving carbon neutrality thanks to a donation of wind generated Renewable Energy Certificates from Better World Energy, Inc. The Bowl has developed community-leading practices for reducing environmental impact through water and energy conservation, recycling, and waste reduction. This year, the Bowl is neutralizing the environmental impact of its electricity consumption through a donation of zero emission energy generated from wind farms. To find out more about energy conservation and zero emission energy, visit Better-World-Energy.com.
The Santa Barbara Bowl has partnered with Santa Barbara’s own Planet Solar, Inc. to substantially reduce electricity usage through the utilization of free clean power from the sun. A new 9kW system has been installed on the roof of the Spotlight platform (affectionately known as SpotWorld) during this past winter. Phase 2 of solar will be targeted for installation during 2013 and will be located on top of the Overlook concessions building. Santa Barbara’s own, Planet Solar, has generously donated the SpotWorld system and is working with the Bowl for the Overlook project.
Other exciting developments during 2013 include research and development for lower wattage light fixtures including LED’s where possible and planting a small garden of edible plants for backstage catering.
The Santa Barbara Bowl strives to provide a spectacular experience to all our guests. Please adhere to the following for everyone's safety and enjoyment.
